Had it been an easy gain and a moderate trip, the hypocrites would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allah, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allah knows that indeed they are liars.
اگر مالِ غنیمت سہل الحصول اور سفر بھی ہلکا سا ہوتا تو تمہارے ساتھ (شوق سے) چل دیتے۔ لیکن مسافت ان کو دور (دراز) نظر آئی (تو عذر کریں گے) ۔ اور خدا کی قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ اگر ہم طاقت رکھتے تو آپ کے ساتھ ضرور نکل کھڑے ہوتے یہ (ایسے عذروں سے) اپنے تئیں ہلاک کر رہے ہیں۔ اور خدا جانتا ہے کہ جھوٹے ہیں
यदि निकट (भविष्य में) ही कुछ मिलनेवाला होता और सफ़र भी हलका होता तो वे अवश्य तुम्हारे पीछे चल पड़ते, किन्तु मार्ग की दूरी उन्हें कठिन और बहुत दीर्घ प्रतीत हुई। अब वे अल्लाह की क़समें खाएँगे कि, "यदि हममें इसकी सामर्थ्य होती तो हम अवश्य तुम्हारे साथ निकलते।" वे अपने आपको तबाही में डाल रहे है और अल्लाह भली-भाँति जानता है कि निश्चय ही वे झूठे है
